The Museum Ett Hem opens in May 2025

Welcome to the museum Ett Hem!

The museum Ett Hem is a charming bourgeois home from the turn of the 20th century, located in the historic surroundings of Turku. This home museum, once the residence of Consul Alfred Jacobsson and his wife Hélène, is housed in a beautifully preserved building on Piispankatu, next to Turku Cathedral. The museum is furnished in the style of its era, featuring furniture, art, and textiles collected by the Jacobsson couple. The interior of the museum offers a unique glimpse into a bygone world, where visitors can peacefully admire paintings from the Golden Age of Finnish art.

History of the museum

Behind Turku Cathedral, on Piispankatu in an atmospheric yellow wooden house, time has come to a halt at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The Ett Hem Museum is the home museum of Consul Alfred and Mrs. Hélène Jacobsson. The museum was opened in 1932 in their home in Turku, at Hämeenkatu 30. The Jacobsson couple donated their home to the Åbo Akademi University Foundation in 1925. Since 1965, the museum has operated in the current building on Piispankatu.
